The Lizzie Bennet Diaries

If you are like me and have watched the 1995 BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice too many times to count, I think it is time you watched the webseries The Lizzie Bennet Diaries on Youtube. It is a modern adaptation of the novel in vlog form with Lizzie as the main narrator. Although the vlog is filmed in specific locations like Lizzie’s room, we meet Charlotte, Jane, Lydia, Bingley (now Bing Lee), Caroline, Mr. Collins, Colonel Fitzwilliam (now Fitz Williams), Wickham, Georgiana (nickname Gigi) and most importantly Darcy. I like the modernization of things but I could not understand why a modern Lizzie would turn down Mr. Collins’ job offer (instead of a marriage proposal) knowing she has student loans and her parents have problems with their mortgage. Also I find it inexplicable why Darcy would fall in love with this modern Lizzie, I didn’t find her endearing at all, Lydia was funnier while Charlotte rocks! Anyway, I enjoyed the 100 episodes (3 to 5 minutes long) of this series. Check it out!
