After several invitations to Wednesday morning yoga at Dragonfly Yoga Studio, I finally took a few hours off yesterday morning to join a class. I woke up very early so I had time to buy bread at Pan de Manila IT Park and then meet Jeanne at McDonald’s JY Square. We were too early at McDonald’s (which opens at 7AM) so we had coffee instead at Tablea. We talked about the latest yoga news which include a new yoga studio opening in Banawa, plans to have another YOGAthering next month in Mactan, informal yoga retreat at Moalboal next week, therapeutic yoga seminar at YogaHub this Saturday and Kai’s yoga for a cause also this Saturday.
On the way up to Dragonfly, we met Jaya who managed to buy hot balanghoy from a vendor in Beverly Hills. Around 8AM, the other yogis started trickling in. There weren’t a lot who joined but Jaya led the group in an invigorating sequence which was even doable by beginners. I did a headstand against the wall and was able to push and balance by myself for a few seconds! It was wonderful to go into savasana while listening to the rain outside, I just wanted to lie there for a long, long time. After the class, there was a lot of food to indulge in (including puto maya and mangoes). As much as I wanted, I had to leave and go to work because I had a feeling something important wasn’t being done.
Next week’s class will be Ashtanga led by Arlien and hopefully followed with a few minutes of massage! This time I will be taking the entire day off!
