My Dream Job

I am almost embarrassed to say but my dream job is to do some sort of work that helps the environment. I am not talking about joining Greenpeace but maybe become the expert in the waste segregation facility? Open a composting center? Does Environment Secretary have any plans to make it every person’s responsibility to help the environment? We need stricter waste segregation, banning plastic bags, composting, more trees in urban areas, more recycling/upcycling centers, minimizing packaging material, reduction of food wastes, etc. Looking forward to what the Duterte administration will do!

H&M Recycling

Filed under: Environment — Tags: — rvchua @ 2:27 pm

I missed H&M’s World Recycling Week last April. I read in Chuvaness that you can donate anytime. Need to check next week at Ayala branch! It is time to get rid of last year’s company uniform, threadbare socks, soiled underwear and saggy bras!

Diva Cup

Filed under: Environment, Minimalism / Simplicity — Tags: — rvchua @ 2:04 pm

I have been using my reusable menstruation pads for 2 years now. It is no longer as white as before and some stains remain after every wash. I am also tired of washing them after use and it takes a long time unless I hang them out under direct sunlight. I still use them every period but only at night or during the weekends. I want to use a Diva Cup especially that you can buy it local online shops. However, I still don’t know if I will ever be comfortable inserting them and taking them out during my period! The BuzzFeed ladies try them out and share their experiences.

Adidas Sneakers Made From Ocean Plastic Waste

Filed under: Environment, Style — Tags: — rvchua @ 1:10 am

Finally a shoe entirely made of recycled plastics and old fishing nets from the ocean! I really hope this technology becomes mainstream soon and not just for 50 shoes. Also, it shows endless possibilities including fabrics in car seats. I am really impressed not just Adidas dedication to the environment but also leading the way for other companies to follow.

Potato Skins for Grey Hair?

Filed under: Environment, Minimalism / Simplicity, Style — Tags: — rvchua @ 12:16 pm

I have had white hair for fifteen years. A hair dresser told me to never dye my hair and I have followed that advice. I have never dyed my hair although there have been times that I was sorely tempted (violet hair!). At my age, white/grey hair is just around the corner or maybe not? Need to see if this trick works!

Japanese Tiny Narrow House

Filed under: Environment, Minimalism / Simplicity — rvchua @ 1:24 pm

I find the toilet, bedroom and hallway too narrow and claustrophobic, I assume the sides of the hallway are their closets. The most fascinating part is the entrance way. You have light, something green and privacy in such a tiny space!

ECHOstore Opens In Cebu

Filed under: Environment, Food — Tags: — rvchua @ 5:12 am

echostore cebu newECHOstore used to be just a small stall at Banilad Town Centre’s weekend food market. Now they have their own location at Streetscape, Ma. Luisa Road, Cebu City. I wasn’t able to look at everything they had nor sample any of their food but I bought their citronella insect repellant (P209) which smells divine and the chocolate cacao nib cookies (P150) which probably will not last before bedtime. Next time I want to try their mushroom burgers which the Spanish yogi in yesterday’s class was raving about.

The Morning Routine

Filed under: Environment, Thank You — rvchua @ 2:10 pm

I used to have a morning ‘routine’ that ended in May. I found myself alone with nothing to do and not much to look forward to. I tried to go back to what I used to do before the ‘routine’ but I ended up being lazy and wanting to just sleep in.

I don’t know which conversation it was that led me and Clarice to join Nathan in his early morning photo shoots. I don’t really contribute to the shoot. I am mainly there for the cold, fresh air. However we do enjoy the twinkling lights of the city, the last lights of the disappearing moon and stars, the gradual lightening up of the sky and eventually greet the sun as it descends across Cebu. There are also times where we found ourselves enveloped with fog of very limited visibility.

Most of the time when we head down to the city, we go to Paseo Arcenas for charity yoga and hanging out with the rest of the divine family. Yesterday was Tuesday and a holiday, so the only agenda we had was breakfast at Bo’s Coffee. Lively and revealing talk peppered our omelettes, buko water and blueberry cheesecake. Despite the 2AM wakeup so that we could meet up at 3AM at J Centre, I would willingly put up with it just so I can enjoy nature, hang out with people that I care about and wallow in hot, brewed coffee!
